History and People

Frisby and Co was founded by Peter Frisby in 1989, who remains a consultant with the firm. The practice converted from a partnership to a limited company in February 2006.

The Company directors are Andrew Broome and Simon Belfield, both specialising in niche criminal and regulatory work, and Kevin Downes, specialising in commercial and civil litigation. On the 1st of May 2009 they were joined by Ruth Barber, Tom Cleary and Mark Davies, bringing the total number of directors to 6.

In 2007, having already developed an extensive practice in health and safety prosecution work, the company was appointed to prosecute for the Health and Safety Executive in the Midlands, South East and East areas.

In 2005 the company acquired a specialist high cost fraud unit, headed by Mark Davies . In December 2008 this unit was granted category 1 status by the Legal Services Commission.

In January 2008, Liz Thompson was appointed head of the Commercial and Private Client Department .

New attractive premises with listed building status were acquired in January 2008 to accommodate the expanding practice.
