Mediation
Mediation enables couples, to resolve disputes that they cannot resolve between themselves and do not want to involve professional advisers to negotiate for them.
The mediation process involves a trained third party to help the negotiation process. The trained mediator will manage the discussions and act as an informed referee. It has been found that this sort of help is very effective in identifying issues and so smoothes the way to resolving disputes.
The mediator will often meet each party on their own initially to highlight the issues and then conduct a meeting with all parties present to establish if there is a way forward.
If parties are able to reach agreement with the assistance of the mediator then it is not legally binding unless it is confirmed later with a court order.
A Mediator is not a Judge and therefore can not give legal advice.
Mediation can cover disputes relating to children and finances. We are able to advise when mediation is appropriate and provide details of mediators local to you who are able to assist.
